Valerie L. Kahn

Valerie Kahn has a broad-based business practice encompassing litigation, transactional, and consulting work. She represents large and small corporations, assisting them with their employment law and workers' compensation issues. Ms. Kahn also assists individuals in negotiating their employment contracts, as well as preparing all the necessary documents and filings for start-ups, new corporations, and partnerships. She also acts as general counsel for some clients.

In addition to her business knowledge, Ms. Kahn also represents buyers and sellers in residential real estate transactions. She is a licensed attorney-agent of several title companies, including Fidelity National Title, Chicago Title, and Baird & Warner Title.

Super Lawyers has named Ms. Kahn a "Rising Star" since 2012. This is a peer-review based honor given only to 2.5% of all Chicagoland attorneys under the age of 40.

Prior to opening Kahn Law Group in 2008, Ms. Kahn spent more than five years at a large full-service Chicago law firm. There, Ms. Kahn practiced workers' compensation defense and management-side labor & employment law. Ms. Kahn was the first attorney at that firm to handle worker's compensation insurance compliance claims and prior to her departure successfully negotiated more settlements than any other attorney at the firm. Ms. Kahn began her legal career at a small plaintiff's workers' compensation law firm in Chicago.

Ms. Kahn has been admitted to the Illinois Bar and the District Court for the Northern District of Illinois since 2001. She received her JD from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 2001. During law school, she served as a judicial extern for Federal District Judge Robert W. Gettleman. Ms. Kahn graduated from Boston University in 1998 cum laude with a BA with distinction in history.

Ms. Kahn has been a member of the Chicago Bar Association and the Alliance for Women Mentoring Circles. She is a past member of the Decalogue Society of Lawyers and has served on several philanthropic boards. She is a past-President of the Literacy Chicago Associate Board. At that time, Literacy Chicago was the largest non-profit provider of tuition-free adult education in the State of Illinois. She is also a past-participant in The Anti-Defamation League Steinburg Leadership Program and JUF.
